Pictures & stories, love & Lessons

no book is more lasting than a book for children, for we carry its lessons with us all our lives. we'd like you to introduce you to our first GRoup of marvelous children's authors and to their delightfulbooks as well.

NOAH BAIRD

Noah Baird, author of Donations to Clarity (for grown-ups!) wanted to attend the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, but his grades weren't good enough (who knew?). However, his grades were good enough to fly for the U.S. Navy (again, who knew?), where he spent 14 years until the government figured out surfers don't make the best military aviators. Southpaw was written at the request of his two children, who wanted him to write a book they could read.

southpaw

In a wacky town of only left-handed people, something is not right . . . South Paw explores the ideas of discrimination, bias, and acceptance. Read this book for enjoyment, or use it to stimulate deeper discussions on how we should treat each other.

Side by side

Have you ever felt a beat from your heart to your toes? It catches you by surprise you want to jump out of your seat. Your feet can’t stop tapping. You hum right along. Before you know you’re a part of the music. It’s swing, it’s bebop, it’s jazz. Two musicians, Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane felt that rhythm and beat from their hearts to their toes. That beat filled them up so much it spilled out into their music. Side by Side is the story of two jazz legends who were born in North Carolina and went on to change the course of music forever.
